“An Ode to LA and Denver: 5 of My Favorite Places”

1) Beverly Hills Juice: http://www.beverlyhillsjuice.com/
Beverly Hills Juice is my absolute favorite place for a chilly, filling, (mostly) guilt-free fix, and the first thing I thought of when I was asked to write this list. My go-to combo is the Apple Lemon Ginger Banana Manna shake. Trust me...just GO. I miss it every day.

2) Fairfax Flea/Melrose Trading Post: http://melrosetradingpost.org/
You don’t truly appreciate the flea market until you can’t go every weekend. At least, that has been my experience! The Melrose Trading Post was always a no-brainer for me when thinking of a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, or when I needed inspiration of any kind.

3) AltHouse: www.shopalthouse.com
AltHouse is fairly new on LA’s boutique scene at just over 2 years old, but has quickly become one of my favorite shops for those special, avant-garde pieces to accent a closet. Owner Jennifer Althouse curates the most beautiful selection from designers such as Rachel Comey and Black Crane, yet keeps it down-to-earth as well with items from Levi’s and Levi’s Vintage. Also worth mentioning is the shop’s stunning interior; the space alone is worth a trip downtown.

4) RULE gallery: http://www.rulegallery.com/
I was pleasantly surprised to find a well-established art scene in Denver upon moving back home several years ago, and it continues to grow. Rule Gallery has gone through some changes over the last couple of years, but their artist roster is stronger than ever. I invested in my first pieces of art here this past spring, courtesy of the crazy-talented Caleb Hahne.

  5) Victoriana Jewelry: http://www.victorianajewelry.com/
Rossmore is, of course, one of my top picks for a contemporary brand, but I had to recognize one of the most gorgeous antique jewelry collections in Denver. I used to walk past this shop on Larimer Street between classes and gaze longingly into the windows. My fiancé and I found my engagement ring here, and I cannot say enough about the selection, owners and staff.
